Why is Viego so obsessed? ›

Isolde perished in her bed, and Viego was consumed by madness. His search for an antidote became desperate, crazed. Unable to accept his wife's death, every treasure of the kingdom—every scrap of wealth—was sacrificed to his quest to return her to him.

Once ruler of a long-lost kingdom, Viego perished over a thousand years ago when his attempt to bring his wife back from the dead triggered the magical catastrophe known as the Ruination.

It is uncertain if Viego truly loved Isolde or loved that she was his because he was raised to take anything he desired. Regardless, he doted and focused on her and ignored his duties as king.

As Isolde succumbed to the poison, Viego became more unhinged and resented failure, seeing his own niece Kalista as a traitor for failing to cure Isolde, and wanted the Iron Order to kill the people of the Blessed Isles for standing in the way of his goals.

The harder a champion is, the more difficult is to bring the most optimal play out of it. Garen for example is hard on timing of skills, but no skillshots involved or positioning for a perfect combo. Viego's passive makes him the hardest because in every scenario, possessing a takedown changes your options instantly.

“When I was drawing my original Viego concept I put a hole in his chest—the one left by Isolde when she stabbed him with his sword. And I thought there was nothing more hopelessly romantic than a big, weeping hole in his chest where his heart should be,” says Lonewingy.

Gwen dislikes when others suffer and dedicates herself to bringing solace to those in suffering, but due to so many memories of suffering being associated with Viego alongside his own, she is Dreminded of when Isolde was separated and hates him most of all.
